Mission Statement

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.

The League of Women Voters is:

Nonpartisan but political

The League does not support or oppose candidates or political parties. The League registers voters, encourages voter participation and educates citizens by sponsoring candidate forums and providing a directory of elected officials.

Your local League

The League of Women Voters of Berrien and Cass Counties is very active, Anyone, male or female, 18 years or older, may join. Our League is grassroots-oriented. Members themselves choose which public policy issues will be targeted for study and action. Our schedule is flexible. Meetings and events are held at different times of the day and week.

Multi-issue

The League studies a broad variety of topics ranging from local school issues to international relations. As a result, the League may take further action and host a community forum, disseminate information to the public or join a coalition.

Influential

The League lobbies elected officials and works with other organizations to press its agenda at the local, state and national levels.
